Jesse Ryu

Jesse’s interest in tax law developed through his work with the University of San Diego School of Law’s Federal Tax Clinic and State Income Tax Clinic. Through these clinics, he assisted low-income taxpayers with matters involving the Internal Revenue Service (“IRS”) and the California Franchise Tax Board (“FTB”), gaining practical experience addressing federal and state tax issues.

Originally from Orange County, Jesse earned his Associate of Arts from Santa Ana College, with studies in History and Liberal Arts, before completing his Bachelor of Arts in American Studies at California State University, Long Beach. He then earned his Juris Doctor from the University of San Diego School of Law.

After graduating from law school, Jesse joined McLaughlin Legal as a Law Clerk while continuing his legal education through USD’s LL.M. in Taxation program. His clinical experience and continuing tax studies provide a foundation for his work supporting the firm’s tax practice.
